Dr. David A. Goodwin (aka Pastor David) was born December 31, 1961. He is the anointed Senior Pastor of True Way Deliverance Church International {TWDCI}, Suitland, Maryland where he has served since 1984. For the past 33 years he has been a preacher, teacher and leader of the church and community. Pastor David’s ministry focus has been on family and self-empowerment to Christians in the areas of spiritual, personal, financial and transformational growth. With three weekly services and being led by God, TWDCI is becoming one of the leading churches in the Suitland, MD community.

Pastor David is a gifted preacher, teacher and educator. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, attending New Orleans’ public schools. After completing high school in 1979, he entered the United States Army where he honorably served for over thirty years. In 1981 Pastor David married his lovely wife, First Lady/Co-pastor Shannon (Hicks) Goodwin; out of their union they have one beautiful daughter, Shannekia and one son-in-law, Robert Farrar.

Pastor David began his Christian walk in August 1983, in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. After experiencing the presence and move of God, he made the Washington Metropolitan area his home. In September of that same year, Pastor David joined the Church of Christ in Heaven under the phenomenal leadership of Pastor James Thompson, Glenarden, Maryland.

In September 1984, Pastor David joined the TWDCI under the prodigious leadership of the late Chief Apostle Anne Whitmyer-Savannah. As a faithful, devoted worker in God’s vineyard, Pastor David was appointed to the office of Head Trustee in December 1984. Through his dedication and labor, he successfully mentored, coach and lead others as he became elevated to the position of Chairman of the Deacon Board. Although he was extremely committed to the office of Chair-Deacon, he soon realized that this ministry was not a substitute for the calling upon his life. It was because of Pastor David’s faithfulness, allegiance, hard work and submissiveness, God called him into the office of Associate Minister in June 1985.

Pastor David was licensed and ordained by TWDCI in September 1986 and installed as Assistant Pastor in September 1990. Because of his genuine love for the people of God and his desired to rightly divide the Word of truth, he continued to strive in his education by receiving his Associate of Arts degree from Regent University (2000); his Bachelor of Arts (2002); Masters of Divinity (2004) and Doctrines of Theology (2007) from the True Way Deliverance School of Religion.

In February of 2009, Pastor David humbly accepted God’s new divine assignment as the 2nd Senior Pastor of True Way Deliverance Church International, assigning him the prestigious responsibility to serve as the primary preacher/teacher for TWDCI. Pastor David has dedicated his life’s assignment to changing lives, healing the misfortune and saving souls. He is becoming widely known for his eccentric-spirited personality and as a kingdom practitioner as he shares his revolutionary message of divine empowerment and hope.

Pastor David’s ministry is best accurately demonstrated by his devotion of love in which he has for God and God’s people above all else. It can best be described in Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
