Dr. David A. Goodwin (aka Pastor David) was born on December 31, 1961. He is the anointed Senior Pastor of True Way Deliverance Church International, Suitland, Maryland, where he has served since 1984. He has been a preacher, teacher, and church and community leader for the past 35 years. Pastor David’s ministry has focused on family and Christian self-empowerment in the areas of spiritual, personal, financial, and transformational growth. TWD is becoming one of the leading churches in the Suitland, MD community, with three weekly services and being led by God.

Pastor David is a gifted preacher, teacher, and educator. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended public schools there. After graduating from high school in 1979, he joined the United States Army, where he served honorably for forthy-two years. Pastor David married his lovely wife, First Lady/Co-Pastor Shannon (Hicks) Goodwin, in 1981; they have one beautiful daughter, Shannekia, and one son-in-law, Robert Farrar, from their union.

Pastor David began his Christian journey in the Washington, DC metropolitan area in August 1983. He moved to the Washington Metropolitan Area after experiencing God’s presence and movement. Pastor David joined the Church of Christ in Heaven in Glenarden, Maryland, in September of that same year, under the phenomenal leadership of Pastor James Thompson.

Pastor David joined the TWDCI in September 1984, under the prodigious leadership of the late Chief Apostle Anne Whitmyer-Savannah. Pastor David was appointed as Head Trustee in December 1984 as a faithful and devoted worker in God’s vineyard. He successfully mentored, coached, and led others as he rose to the position of Chairman of the Deacon Board through his hard work and dedication. Despite his devotion to the office of Chair-Deacon, he soon realized that it was not a substitute for the calling on his life. Pastor David was appointed Associate Minister in June 1985 as a result of his faithfulness, allegiance, hard work, and submissiveness.

In September 1986, TWDCI licensed and ordained Pastor David, and in September 1990, he was installed as Assistant Pastor. Because of his genuine love for God’s people and desire to rightly divide the Word of truth, he continued to strive in his education, receiving his Associate of Arts degree from Regent University (2000), his Bachelor of Arts degree from the True Way Deliverance School of Religion (2002), his Masters of Divinity (2004), and Doctrines of Theology (2007).

Pastor David humbly accepted God’s new divine assignment as the 2nd Senior Pastor of True Way Deliverance Church International in February 2009, entrusting him with the prestigious responsibility of serving as the primary preacher/teacher for TWDCI. Pastor David has dedicated his life’s work to changing lives, healing the sick, and saving souls. As he shares his revolutionary message of divine empowerment and hope, he is becoming well-known for his eccentric personality and as a kingdom practitioner.

Pastor David’s ministry is best exemplified by his unwavering love for God and God’s people. It is best described in Matthew 6:33, which says, “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
